Recently, Blackpink singer Jennie's new song 'Like Jennie' is continuously trending in India. The reason for this is that she is being accused of plagiarism. Actually, this song of Jennie is said to be very similar to the theme song of Alia's character Rani from Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh's film 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani', which was composed by Pritam. Due to this, Jennie is being called a victim of plagiarism. But in this case, Pritam himself has defended Jennie.
Pritam, the composer of 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani', rejected the allegations of plagiarism and made it clear that minor similarities in music are common. Regarding this matter, Pritam expressed his views on social media through an Instagram post, in which he wrote, "Rani and Jenny, both these names sound similar, so saying this or having similarity in a line does not mean that it is a copy. There are similarities in music, especially in rhymes, sentences or the same style. Instead of paying attention to these small things, we should pay attention to its greater importance." Pritam further said, "In today's time when artists work on the same platform, no one deliberately copies the work of the other. A lot of hard work goes into making a song, and if an artist connects with an idea, they can easily collaborate."
Pritam appealed to the people to appreciate the artists and their work, and not criticize them. Talking about the nuances and creativity of music, Pritam said, "Music is completely a result of the creativity and vision of the artist, and sometimes there are similarities, especially when artists are doing the same kind of work. Instead of demeaning artists, it makes more sense to appreciate their work. Best of luck to Jenny for her new album."
After this post, Pritam clarified that these allegations are completely baseless and similarities in music cannot be considered copying in any way.
