Kannada actress Ranya Rao misused police protocol, Evidence found in ongoing investigation

The ongoing investigation into the role of Karnataka Police DGP rank officer, K Ramachandra Rao, has revealed that his stepdaughter and Kannada actress, Ranya Rao misused police protocol. According to sources, the investigation conducted by Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta has revealed that Ranya Rao misused police protocol services during her foreign trips, especially while coming from Dubai to Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.

The investigation also found that Ranya Rao availed the protocol services of the DGP rank officer every time she came from Dubai to Bengaluru. In this case, the police department has sent K Ramachandra Rao on compulsory leave on Saturday.

A few days ago, the senior IPS officer was questioned in the gold smuggling case and his statement was recorded by the investigation team led by Gaurav Gupta. On March 10, the state government appointed Gaurav Gupta to investigate Ranya Rao's possible involvement in the gold smuggling. Ramachandra Rao was the chairman and managing director of the Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation.

On March 3, Ranya Rao arrived from Dubai at Kempegowda Airport in Bengaluru, where gold biscuits worth Rs 12.56 crore were recovered from her. Following this, her house was searched, from where gold jewellery worth Rs 2.06 crore and cash worth Rs 2.67 crore was also recovered. This information was provided by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).
