Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam has spoken about the alleged stone pelting incident during his live concert at Delhi Technological University (DTU) and reacted to the recent media reports. The singer took to social media to clarify that the stone pelting and bottle throwing being reported in some media reports is completely false.
Sharing some pictures of the concert on Instagram, Sonu said that someone from the crowd only threw a vape (electronic cigarette) at him, which hit Shumbhankar's chest. After this, Sonu appealed to the students to enjoy the show and not throw things on the stage. He wrote, "There was no incident of stone or bottle pelting at DTU, as is being said in some media reports. Someone threw a vape on the stage, which hit Shumbhankar's chest, and then I was told about it. I stopped the show and requested the college students that if something like this happens again, we will have to stop the show abruptly." Sonu also revealed that someone threw a pink hair band on the stage, which he promptly wore during his performance. He named the band 'Pookie', a word that describes a cute or attractive thing. "Then the same Pookie band was seen on stage, and it was actually Pookie," Sonu said.
Sonu's post came after several reports suggested that his concert at DTU turned chaotic, and he had to stop the show midway due to rude behaviour from the audience. A Hindustan Times report claimed that over one lakh students had gathered at the event and some people allegedly threw stones and plastic bottles at the singer.
According to the report, Sonu spoke to the crowd and requested them to behave. "I am here for you so that we can all enjoy a good time. I am not saying that you should not enjoy, but please don't do this," he said. The report also stated that the singer was concerned about the safety of his team and warned that his team could get hurt if the crowd did this. However, Sonu resumed his performance once the situation was brought under control.
