Kunal Kamra seeks transit anticipatory bail in Madras High Court after FIRs controversial comments

Kunal Kamra has been embroiled in controversy for making comments on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde without naming him. There is strong criticism against him. Meanwhile, this stand-up comedian has filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the Madras High Court on Friday.

Kamra argued in his anticipatory bail plea that he is a resident of Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu and he fears being arrested by the Mumbai Police. After being summoned twice by the Mumbai Police, Kamra recently made comments on Eknath Shinde during a comedy show in Mumbai without naming him. After this he got embroiled in controversies and a big political stir was created.

In fact, during one of his comedy shows, Kamra took a dig at Eknath Shinde through a song, although he did not name him. This video went viral on social media, after which Shiv Sena supporters expressed outrage. Angry Shiv Sena supporters also vandalized the club where Kamra's show was taking place. Following this, the Khar police filed an FIR against Kamra on the complaint of Shiv Sena MLA Murti Patel, alleging that he made derogatory comments against the deputy chief minister.

Following the FIR and the vandalism incident, Kunal Kamra shared a picture of himself holding a Constitution book on his official X account and captioned it, "The only way forward." In the matter, T-Series also sent Kamra a copyright notice, to which Kamra criticised the company. The matter has now turned into a political and legal controversy, and discussions about Kunal Kamra have intensified.
