The troubles of stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra are not decreasing. Three cases have been registered against him at Khar Police Station in Mumbai. The police called Kamra twice for questioning, but till now he has not appeared.
According to Mumbai Police, one of the complaints filed against Kunal Kamra has been given by the mayor of Jalgaon city. Apart from this, a hotel owner and a businessman from Nashik have also filed complaints against him. The police are seriously investigating these cases.
On Friday, Kunal Kamra approached the Madras High Court. He filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the High Court. In his petition, Kamra argued that he is a resident of Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu and he fears arrest by the Mumbai Police. After this, the High Court granted him interim anticipatory bail till April 7, taking into account the several FIRs registered against him. Justice Sundar Mohan has given this relief with conditions.
Actually, Kunal Kamra, during one of his stand-up comedy shows, took a dig at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde through a song, although he did not name anyone. The video of this show went viral on social media. After this, Shiv Sena supporters expressed their displeasure and vandalized the club where the show took place. After this, an FIR was lodged against Kamra. Kamra is also facing heavy criticism on social media after this incident.
The police is now investigating the matter thoroughly and it will be interesting to see what action is taken next.
