Veteran actor Manoj Kumar passes away at 87, Bollywood mourn the loss of legendary 'Bharat Kumar'

Veteran Indian actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar, who was famous for his patriotic films, is no more among us. He passed away at the age of 87 at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Manoj Kumar, who was unwell for a long time, was battling health issues, and was undergoing treatment at the hospital. His death has left not only Bollywood but the entire country in mourning. His memorable films had made a special place in millions of hearts, and today people across the country are remembering their 'Bharat Kumar'. Manoj Kumar's death has deeply shocked the film industry and his fans.

Many big Bollywood stars and fans have mourned the death of Manoj Kumar. Akshay Kumar wrote on the social media platform X, "I learned from him that there is no greater feeling than love and pride for our country and if we actors do not display this feeling, then who will? A good human being and one of the biggest gems of our film industry. RIP Manoj Sir, Om Shanti."

Aamir Khan Offers his Deepest Condolences to Veteran Actor Manoj Kumar,"Manoj Kumar was not just an actor, and film-maker, he was an institution. I have learnt so much watching his films. His films were often based on important social themes which brought him really close to the common man. My heartfelt condolences to his family."

Actor Jackie Shroff also shared a smiling black-and-white photo of Manoj Kumar and posted folded hands and broken heart emojis along with it, drawing tributes from his fans.

Lyricist Manoj Muntashir also paid tribute to Manoj Kumar and wrote, "I always feel proud that my name matches yours. Your films taught me the first lesson of patriotism. Bharat Kumar taught me to love India. If you were not there, how would compositions like 'Teri Mitti' have been written? Goodbye my hero!"

Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri also paid tribute to this great actor and wrote, "India's first true and committed Indian filmmaker, Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Manoj Kumar ji passed away today. He was a proud nationalist, a true Hindu and a visionary director. He gave a new form to Indian cinema, in which patriotism was presented without any noise, without any apology."

Manoj Kumar was born on 24 July 1937 in Abbottabad (now Pakistan). After the partition, his family decided to settle in India and they came to Delhi. He had felt the pain of partition closely. Inspired by the films of Dilip Kumar and Ashok Kumar, he decided to become an actor and changed his name from Harikishan to Manoj Kumar. Manoj Kumar started acting in 1957 with the film 'Fashion'. After this, his film 'Kaanch Ki Gudiya' came in 1960, which was well liked. After this, he won the hearts of the audience through films like 'Upkar', 'Pathar Ke Sanam', 'Roti Kapda Aur Makaan', 'Sanyasi' and 'Kranti'. Manoj Kumar's films presented Indian society and culture in a powerful way, and he will always be remembered as a strong patriotic artist.
