Dia Mirza refutes Telangana CM's allegations of sharing fake AI videos on tree felling controversy

Bollywood actress Dia Mirza on Sunday strongly refuted allegations made by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy that she had shared fake AI-generated videos about the controversial tree felling incident in Gachibowli. Dia Mirza strongly denied the allegations on her @X handle and urged the Chief Minister to verify the facts.

"Telangana CM posted a tweet yesterday in which he made certain claims about the ongoing agitation in Kancha Gachibowli. One of them was that I posted fake AI-generated images and videos in support of students' protest to save biodiversity against plans to build on 400 acres of land," Dia tweeted. She further said, "This is a completely false statement. I have not posted a single photo or video that is generated by AI. The media and Telangana government should check the facts before making such allegations."

In fact, students of Hyderabad University have started protesting against the Telangana government's plan to auction 400 acres of land located near the university and build urban infrastructure and IT parks there. This area is considered ecologically sensitive, and the students are opposing it.

Earlier, Dia Mirza had tweeted on X saying that the youth should spread awareness in the country and save forests and green areas. She wrote, "The youth of our country understand better and are forcing the authorities to do better, so there is hope. India needs its forests and biodiversity and our youth are spreading awareness about it. They are raising their voices and inspiring action. We are hearing you, we are seeing you, we are with you."

This entire controversy has once again raised the question of how to check the authenticity of the content posted on social media, especially when it is being shared to spread awareness in the society on related issues.
