Bollywood actress Malaika Arora is once again in legal trouble. Mumbai's Esplanade Court has once again issued a bailable warrant against her. This case is from the year 2012, when actor Saif Ali Khan was accused of assaulting an NRI businessman. Malaika was present in the same hotel with Saif at that time, and she was called to appear in court as a witness in this case, but she has not appeared till now.
The incident is of 22 February 2012. Saif Ali Khan was having dinner with his wife Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora and some other friends at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. At the same time, NRI businessman Iqbal Mishra objected to their noise and behavior. According to the police, Saif threatened Mishra and punched him on the nose, which broke his nose. Iqbal also alleged that Saif and his friends also scuffled with his father-in-law Raman Patel.
Saif Ali Khan's stand is that Iqbal had made objectionable comments about the women sitting with him, which led to the fight. In this case, a charge sheet was filed against Saif, his friends Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi under section 325 (causing grievous hurt) of the IPC. However, all three were granted bail after their arrest.
Now the court is recording the statements of eyewitnesses in this case. Malaika Arora was present at the time of the incident and was called to testify on this basis. On February 15, the court had issued a bailable warrant against her for the first time, but she did not appear. Now the court has issued this warrant again. The next hearing has been scheduled for April 29.
This case is not just a symbol of the legal trouble of a star, but of the responsibility that famous people in society have. In any case, if a person is an eyewitness, then his testimony is important for justice. The court's repeated summons and then issuing of warrants shows that non-cooperation in the judicial process is a serious matter.
