Indian cinema's veteran director S.S. Rajamouli's film 'RRR' is once again in the headlines internationally. Recently, the Oscar-giving body Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced a new category - Best Stunt Design. This category will start from the 100th Academy Awards to be held in 2028 and will include films released in 2027.
Along with the announcement of this new category, the Academy shared pictures of iconic stunt scenes from three films on Instagram. The special thing was that from India's side, a tremendous scene from ‘RRR’ was also included in this, in which actor Ram Charan is seen jumping towards a tiger. This scene is one of the most thrilling and talked about action scenes of the film. Apart from ‘RRR’, glimpses of two other films were also shown in this post - a multiverse action scene from Michelle Yeoh's film ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ and the famous scene from Tom Cruise's film ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol’, in which he climbs the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
S.S. Expressing happiness over this honor, Rajamouli wrote on his ex (former Twitter) account, "After a long wait of 100 years, stunt design finally got a place in the Oscars. Thanks to David Leach, Chris O'Hara and the entire stunt community for this historic decision. Also thanks to Academy CEO Bill Cramer and President Janet Yang who recognized the hard work of stunt artists. It is a proud moment that RRR's action became a part of this announcement."
Let us tell you that earlier 'RRR''s song 'Natu Natu' has won the title of Best Original Song in the Oscars of the year 2023. Junior NTR and Ram Charan were in the lead roles in the film, while Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgan played cameos.
