Aamir Khan was today present at the song launch of his upcoming film, Secret Superstar in which he is playing a relatively smaller part. With Zaira Wasim in the lead, the film is about a Muslim girl and her dreams and struggle to break free from the controversial society norms and become a singer. Secret Superstar will see the actor in the role of a musician who helps Zaira achieve her goal.

At the event, Aamir foremost introduced Meghna, the girl who rendered her voice to Zaira as the film has more than 7-8 songs and Khan couldn't stop raving about the young talent. Aamir revealed how Zaira worked hard training with Meghna, considering the Dangal actress has no connection with the music. Khan also revealed that he was surprised when he got to know that Meghna had rejected a singing reality show in the past! The song Main Kaun Hoon was unveiled at the do.

Zaira, however, was conspicuous by her absence.

With Secret Superstar being a Diwali release and clashing with Ajay Devgn's Golmaal Again at the box office, Aamir said that there is enough space for two films to release on a festival date. On being asked, about his contemporaries, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's films Jab Harry Met Sejal and Tubelight's colossal failures at the ticket window, Aamir shared, "We can't say it's a shift of trend. We see ups and downs, it happens."

On the parting note, Aamir was questioned as to who he considers the superstar in today's time and the actor quipped, "When you (media) say stars, you just mention me, Salman and SRK But it's wrong. There are other stars too. Like Akshay Kumar. His film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has performed well at the box office."

Secret Superstar is directed by Adavit Chandan and will release on October 19, 2017.
