The sequel, just like the original, will raise pertinent questions about our education system and society. While the first part revolved around a couple that struggled to get their little daughter admitted to a good school, the sequel will see their daughter going to the US for higher education and facing trouble fitting into a system where English is the primary spoken language. The film will address the struggle of people from different origins who go to the US to study and try to fit in.
The sequel will also see Deepak Dobriyal returning as Shyam but in a longer role, this time as his son Mohan will also be making some important choices on higher education and career goals. Irrfan's daughter’s character is said to be as headstrong and opinionated as her mom, Meeta. Believed to be titled English Medium, the film goes on the floors in mid-April in Delhi.
