The speculation over S S Rajamouli’s film RRR continues to grow unchecked. All kinds of fascinating stories of the Telugu film director’s period action film starring Ram Charan and NTR Jr. started doing the rounds ever since it became known that Rajamouli had signed on Alia Bhatt for the film.

RRR is a Rs. 300 crore film on the lives of freedom fighters Alluri Sitaram Raju and Komaram Bheem who fought against the British Raj and Hyderabad Nizam respectively. Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn, besides Alia, has also been signed on for the film but the Singham actor will play only an extended cameo.
It is Alia’s role in RRR that is intriguing Bollywood people. The buzz alternated between it being a pivotal role and that of a cameo. PeepingMoon.com has come to know that it is neither: Alia plays an important role in RRR but it is only of about 20-25 minutes. And, yes, the other buzz that Alia got the role because Karan Johar spoke to Rajamouli is also true.
However, sources close to KJo say that it was not as if the Dharma Productions boss man had to convince Rajamouli to accept Alia in RRR. “Karan is forever helping people. He just made a phone call to Rajamouli. And the Telugu director was happy to sign on Alia for RRR. Alia is a tremendous actress and very big in Bollywood and which Indian director would not want to work with her?” the source asked. Alia has already started work on RRR opposite Ram Charan in Delhi. Rajamouli had hinted that her role was a significant one and it is believed that Alia will be playing the character of Sita. RRR is going to be Rajamouli’s next big project after Baahubali and the period patriotic drama will be released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil on the Bakri Eid holiday in 2020. The first schedule of the film was completed in Hyderabad before Rajamouli shifted RRR to Delhi. The shoot is at real locations and Alia will complete her work in 20 days.
Meanwhile, there is another bit of buzz on Alia and the film she is doing with Sanjay Leela Bhansali opposite Salman Khan. Talk was that SLB wanted another actress for the role. And that actress was reportedly Kriti Sanon. Which was okay with Alia because she was reportedly not keen on doing another role with a senior actor after she had done one opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Dear Zindagi. But the story goes that Karan Johar, again, was keen that Alia work with SLB and he reportedly went to the filmmaker and shared some footage of her in his forthcoming film Kalank that changed SLB’s mind. That, again, is not true. The PeepingMoon.com source said, “Why would Karan have to do that? Which actress in Bollywood is not anxious to work with Bhansali after Padmaavat?”
