Here’s another rumour that’s been flying fast and furious that can safely be laid to rest. It’s to do with Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan’s elder son Aryan who is studying at the University of Southern California’s film school. Apparently, Bollywood is convinced that Aryan, who is 21, will make his Bollywood debut as an Assistant Director (AD) to Karan Johar on the epic film Takht.
Bollywood sources have been gleefully counting the reasons why Takht would be the perfect film for Aryan’s debut. The multi-starrer on the great Mughal war meant for a 2020 release has a big star cast including Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles. It would be nice for the youngster to learn his craft, help Karan and the crew on the sets of Takht which is expected to go on the floor in months.
But PeepingMoon.com has learned that this is not happening at all.
Karan, who is known to be godfather to the star kids of Bollywood (look at how many he has launched), is returning to directing himself with Takht after Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016. And there is a strong buzz that KJo will launch Aryan as his AD in Takht.
Of Aryan, SRK had said, “If Aryan wants to be a filmmaker, he needs to study for another five to six years and not just the literal form of studying, but probably be an assistant to Karan after he finishes his film-making course.”
That statement by SRK led to all the speculation and put paid to earlier rumours that KJo was going to be launching Aryan as an actor in a Dharma Productions film opposite another debutante, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor. But a source close to the film production company said neither was KJo launching Aryan as an actor and nor was Aryan assisting KJo on Takht. “He has still to finish film school in LA,” the source said.
Meanwhile, unaware of the excitement building up back home over his Bollywood career, Aryan Khan was last week holidaying at Courchevel, Rhone-Alpes, France. From where he posted pictures on Instagram making his followers go gaga. One wrote, “Join Bollywood already.”
