Despite all the drama over which actress will play the lead opposite Kartik Aryan in Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, the ball appears to be finally in the lovely Kiara Advani’s court. PeepingMoon.com sources say that the Kabir Singh actress has been signed as Kartik’s romantic interest in the sequel to Priyadarshan’s 2007 psychological comedy-drama.

Last week’s gossip had it that Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor were front runners for the role. But Shraddha, despite being interested, apparently had prior commitments. Same was the story with Sara. The actress, who is romantically linked with Kartik and stars with him in Imtiaz Ali’s remake of the 2009 romantic comedy Love Aaj Kal, had to pass up the offer because she too has a tight schedule. That left Bazmee with few other choices because the director was on a Gen X actress only.

It is believed that Bazmee did toy with the idea of Kriti Sanon for a bit because Kriti and Kartik were great together in Luka Chuppi and their chemistry on screen was a big success. This after the names of Janhvi Kapoor and Ananya Pandey did the rounds in widespread media speculation. But then Kiara gave her okay to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and made Bazmee’s day.
