It’s yet another showbiz tale for Lootera director Vikramaditya Motwane. PeepingMoon.com has learned that the filmmaker, whose next directorial is a Netflix revenge drama revolving around a director and an actor, is making one more project that’s set against the backdrop of the film industry. However, unlike the Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap starrer AK v/s AK, Motwane’s next is an Amazon Prime Series web show that will be made into four seasons.
It has been titled Stardust and is about the rivalry between two actors in Hindi cinema. It’s said to be a fictional take on the Indian film industry from 1947 to around 1989 and explores the clash between two superstars. The period drama is believed to have a gripping storyline with songs, dances, debauchery, murder and backstabbing radially woven into the plot.
Ayushmann Khurrana’s brother Aparshakti Khurrana who has been slowly and steadily making his mark with notable performances in films like Stree, Luka Chuppi and Pati, Patni Aur Who, has been approached to play one of the leads while the search for the second leading hero is still on. Motwane who co-directed Netflix’s Sacred Games will solely direct all the seasons of this star-studded show. He is said to have already finished the scripting for its first season and will soon start its pre-production. The show is scheduled to go on floors in April at a Mumbai studio.
Meanwhile, Motwane wrapped up the shooting for AK v/s AK just a couple of days ago. It shows a filmmaker kidnapping the daughter of a film star and while the star searches for his daughter the director shoots the desperate search in real-time for his next blockbuster. It is expected to be out later this year on Netflix.
