Excerpts from the chat:
You have been roped in for the lead role in Apoorva Lakhia directed spy thriller web series for Voot. Any specific reason for choosing the webspace over films?
Today the webspace is big. For an actor, it is about acting and performing a role that challenges you. Whether the medium is film, theatre or web, for me I don’t differentiate. The web is the way forward as it reaches an international audience. It has the chance to offer great characters and actors.
With the web series, you have explored a genre that wasn’t a part of your repertoire to date. How was your experience shooting for it and stepping into an unknown zone?
It’s exciting given Apoorva’s genre and style of filmmaking. He knows what exactly is wanted. I will be seen in a shape in which people never expected to see me in. The character brings in a twist in the plot. From rehearsing our action sequences together to shooting in Chandigarh with a team so down to earth, it like you are in a family. With nobody throwing starry airs nor tantrums, it was an enriching experience overall.

You were recently seen hosting Nach Baliye 9. Any particular reason for signing the show?
The sky is the limit and one shouldn’t confine oneself to a particular thing so Nach Baliye came my way and hosting is something I have been comfortable with. Nach was different as the language is different and it is a reality show. I was told that I will be hosting opposite Maniesh. It was a great opportunity and why not? Today television is great and the reach will widen. I took it upon myself to try.

You are also starring in Katrina Kaif’s sister Isabelle Kaif’s launch vehicle- Time To Dance. Can you elaborate a little on the film and your character?
Isabelle and I play sisters. It is a sweet film on the journey of these two sisters and they are professional dancers. The film essentially revolves around a dance competition and majorly on ballroom dancing. In ballroom dancing, there are various forms and one has to compete in every form to win the trophy. So, it is about these girls who are trying to save their music school which is their dance academy. Sooraj Pancholi is their partner and the story moves on.
Your go-to beauty mantra?
With me, I try to keep it as simple as possible. I believe too much makeup tends to either accentuate your features or age you. I allow my skin to breathe and don’t prefer a lot of colours on my eyes. When it comes to my lips, 90% of the time, I opt for pastel or nude shade.
Top five fashion and fitness tips that one should always keep in mind?
For me, style is something that represents you. I don’t follow many of the trends. I feel it's important for people to put their personalities out in the open. Comfort should play a huge role. As far as the workout is concerned, it should become your lifestyle and not as if you are burdened. You need to do it for yourself and not just to look good for the camera. Fitness should be incorporated in your lifestyle for mental health and wellbeing. One hour a day, take out time and play a sport or an hour of brisk walk should do the trick if you don’t find time for the gym and pilates.
