There’s great news for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan fans. The actress and former Miss World has also decided to take the plunge into the web world once the Covid-19 lockdown is lifted. PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that the Bachchan bahu is excited by a Netflix Original to be bankrolled by her Bollywood co-star Shah Rukh Khan’s banner Red Chillies Entertainment. It’s likely that hubby Abhishek Bachchan, who’s making his web debut with Amazon Prime India’s second season of Breathe, has influenced Ash’s decision.
PeepingMoon.com has also learned that the untitled Original will be helmed by a female director whose name is being kept under wraps until things are locked. Ash is believed to have given her a verbal nod and will sign on the dotted line once all the other logistics are finalized.
Ash currently has Mani Ratnam’s ambitious project Ponniyin Selvan on hand which she will resume work on once shoots are allowed. She is also said to be in talks with Parineeta director Pradeep Sarkar for his next based on the life of the 19th-century courtesan and actor Binodini Das. Ash is believed to have liked the first narration but things haven’t progressed further due to the lockdown.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the latest 90s Bollywood heroine to join the web bandwagon after Kajol (Tribhanga), Madhuri Dixit (The Heroine), Lara Dutta (Hundred), Raveena Tandon, Priyanka Chopra (The White Tiger), Vidya Balan (Indira Gandhi biopic) and Sushmita Sen (Aarya) began exploring the digital space and will soon be seen on the web screen in their respective outings.
