The mortal remains of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who committed suicide yesterday, will be consigned to the flames this evening at 5 o’clock at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle. Only eight members of his family have been permitted to attend the last rites.
These include his father, K. K. Singh, cousin Neeraj Singh Babloo who is a Bihar MLA, Babloo’s wife and two sons, all of whom will arrive in Mumbai by a GoAir flight at 2 o’clock this afternoon. The actor’s two sisters Ritu and Mitu and brother-in-law Om Prakash Singh, who is an Additional Director General of Police in Haryana and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD), are already in Mumbai.
Ritu and Om Prakash Singh took a flight from Chandigarh to Delhi and then Delhi to Mumbai to reach here last night. Mitu stays in Mumbai and was among those who were present when the Mont Blanc bedroom door was broken open yesterday to reveal Sushant hanging from the fan. These will be the eight members who will attend Sushant’s cremation this evening.
The postmortem on Sushant’s body was conducted at 8 o’clock this morning at the Dr. R. N. Cooper Municipal General Hospital by a team of three doctors. It took two hours and was videographed. Details are awaited. But a preliminary report said that prima facie the actor’s death appeared to be a case of suicide. His organs were sent to J. J. Hospital for toxicological analysis to see if there were any traces of poisonous substances.
