PeepingMoon Exclusive: Not Mogul, Subhash Kapoor to next direct a political drama series for SonyLIV

Contrary to the speculations, Subhash Kapoor is not starting Aamir Khan's Mogul anytime soon. Peepingmoon.com has learned that the filmmaker is currently busy with the post-production work of his Richa Chaddha starrer Madam Chief Minister and once that's completed he will dive into his new project. T-Series' ambitious biopic on the life of music baron, Gulshan Kumar -even though was announced a couple of years back - is still in the writing stage and will take a longer time to go on floors.

We've learned that Subhash Kapoor is next doing a web-series instead of Mogul as reported. Sources close to the development have revealed that he is making his foray into the digital space with a political drama series that will premiere on the recently updated streaming platform, SonyLIV. Naren Kumar who's been executive producer on Kapoor's previous movies like Guddu Rangeela and Jolly LLB series is co-producing this yet-untitled show. Said to be a social satire set against the political backdrop, the series is currently in the pre-production stage and will go on floors in October.

Only after completing this SonyLIV series Subhash Kapoor will shift his focus into Gulshan Kumar biopic. The filmmaker is believed to have almost completed the script and is expected to meet Aamir in January with the film's final draft. Since Khan hasn't given his dates yet it's unclear when the film will get off the ground but producers are hopeful to roll it by mid-next year. Aamir is apparently also in talks for Neeraj Pandey's Vikram Vedha remake and will possibly shoot for it before playing T-Series founder on-screen.

Meanwhile, Subhash Kapoor's third installment of his pet project, Jolly LLB also doesn't seem happening soon in the coming years. While rumours were ripe that the filmmaker is planning to bring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi together to pit them against each other in the court in Jolly LLB 3, the official sources have clarified that nothing is happening on that front as yet.
