John Abraham is ready to shoot! After staying locked in his home for over four months, John is all geared up to resume the shooting for his movies that were halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The actor will begin the filming for Sanjay Gupta's gangster drama Mumbai Saga with Emraan Hashmi and others mid-August and then move to Milap Zaveri's Satyameva Jayate sequel that will go on floors in September in Lucknow.
Now, Peepingmoon.com has learned that John will shoot for one more film in between. Sources have revealed that John is playing a cameo appearance in Nikkhil Advani's yet-untitled production venture starring Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh, and will shoot for his portion in the second week of August. "John is also a co-producer of this film and hence immediately agreed to do a small special role. He was supposed to shoot it early this year after wrapping Mumbai Saga but everything went awry post-COVID-19 pandemic. Kaashvie Nair's film has now been scheduled to resume mid-August and John is soon expected to give his shooting timeline," a source close to the team told us.
We've also learned that John will be playing Arjun Kapoor's grandfather and Neena Gupta's first husband in this family comedy-drama. John will be seen in the flashback sequence with the younger version of Neena which will be played by a new actress. John is expected to shoot for 5-6 days with the team after which a week-long schedule is planned with Arjun and Rakul. Kumud Mishra plays the role of a Pakistani Mayor in this family drama, written by Anuja Chauhan, Amitosh Nagpal and Kaashvie Nair.
The yet-untitled film is said to be a coming-of-age, cross-border drama with a heavy dose of emotional quotient. It's said to be a human relationship drama about a grandma and her grandchildren separated by borders, and while the film is primarily about Arjun and Rakul's characters, Neena is said to have a prominent arc in the story too. She will be seen in a prosthetics-heavy look as a grandmother.
Produced by Nikkhil Advani, Bhushan Kumar and John Abraham, the film has been shot in Mumbai and Punjab and had the last schedule remaining in Europe when the lockdown happened. With the film industry slowing getting back to work, the producers have decided to shoot for the indoor scenes in Mumbai itself while they're still adopting a wait-and-watch mode to take a call on the pending shoot that requires a foreign location.
