"Ten years ago, looking at my face, people used to reject me for such romantic roles. Now, filmmakers think I'm capable of such characters. Why should I say no to them? This is the right age to do it. I can't do romantic roles at 60," Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently said in an interview. The actor was answering to why he has suddenly started doing romantic-comedies, opposite of what he's widely known for. The question was asked considering his recent focus into light-hearted films that see him romancing young actresses.
Siddiqui, mostly known for his dark and gritty cinema, was recently seen opposite Television actress Ragini Khanna in Zee5's Ghoomketu. Before that, he was paired opposite Athiya Shetty in Motichoor Chaknachoor and Sanya Malhotra in the award-winning Photograph. His next romantic drama Bole Chudiyan sees him opposite Bahubali actress Tamannaah Bhatia. Now, Peepingmoon.com has learned that Nawaz will also romance Neha Sharma soon on the screen.
We've heard that Neha who's recently seen playing a lawyer in Voot Select's critically acclaimed web-series, Illegal has been paired opposite Siddiqui in Kushan Nandy's next directorial. Nandy who's previously worked with Siddiqui on Babumoshai Bandookbaaz (2017) is next making a Lucknow-based love story titled Dimple Kidnap Ho Gai Hai and has zeroed in on Sharma to play the female lead. Neha is believed to have signed the film that, apart from Siddiqui, also stars Mimoh Chakraborty, Zarina Wagh and Sanjay Mishra in the pivotal roles.
Although the details of the film haven't been revealed yet, we heard it's the story about a guy living with five women and what happens to his thought process. It's said to be a social drama with comic undertones. The film reportedly went on floors mid-March in Lucknow but was indefinitely postponed just after two days of shooting owing to the COVID-19 lockdown. However, with the shootings slowly starting in UP now, they are also expected to set a schedule soon to resume the filming.
Meanwhile, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will next be seen in Honey Trehan's directorial debut Raat Akeli Hai, premiering this Friday on Netflix. He also has Sudhir Mishra's Serious Men series scheduled for this year on the same streaming platform. Neha Sharma, on the other hand, is next doing Bejoy Nambiar's Taish starring Harshvardhan Rane, Pulkit Samrat, Jim Sarbh and Kriti Kharbanda!
