Unlike most of the Bollywood stars who suddenly went out of work due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bobby Deol has had a decent 2020 with several OTT releases. The actor was first seen in Atul Sabharwal's Netflix film, Class of 83 that tells the story of a hero policeman shunted to a punishment posting as the dean of the police academy. It was soon followed by the release of Prakash Jha's Aashram that fetched him a lot of critical acclaim for his portrayal of a fraudulent self-styled Godman. Three months after the MX Player show dropped online, Bobby is returning as Kashipur Wale Baba Nirala again for the second chapter of the series. And while the new chapter starts premiering today, we heard Bobby has already given his dates for Aashram second season.
Peepingmoon.com has learned that MX Player has already renewed Aashram for the second season and Prakash Jha will start shooting for it in March 2021. "The new season will deal with Bobby Deol's character Baba Nirala's past and showcase his journey from Monty to becoming a conman in the garb of self-styled Godman. It will get more intense and gritty and will show how Baba starts indulging in illegal activities and acquires political clout to build his empire. It will again be shot at the same palace in Ayodhya where the first season was shot. Bobby Deol, Prakash Jha and the team have planned to shoot the show from March to May-end next year," said a source close to the development.
The second chapter of the first season that premieres today apparently ends on a cliffhanger to make a way for the second season. While the first chapter that streamed in August and became a wide hit across the country with over 400 million views saw Baba Nirala enjoying supreme power and committed crimes taking the advantage of the blind faith of his disciples, the upcoming chapter sees his greed for power, money and lust grow manifold. This time he will bend every rule to suit himself and turn devotee's devotion into corruption.
Meanwhile, Bobby Deol will complete the shooting for his two projects before diving into the world of Aashram again. The actor has already kicked off the filming for Abbas-Mustan's Netflix thriller Penthouse along with Arjun Rampal and Sharman Joshi in Mumbai. Soon after wrapping it up, he will move to Red Chillies Entertainment and Drishyam Films' crime-thriller, Love Hostel in January. Bobby plays a ruthless mercenary to a spirited young couple played by Vikrant Massey and Sanya Malhotra in the Shanker Raman directorial!
