Flying start to 2.0 music launch

The promotional take-off to S. Shankar’s sci-fi thriller 2.0 literally got off to a flying start this morning in Dubai with Akshay Kumar, A. R. Rahman and Shankar himself taking a chopper from a private airfield to the Burj Park where an excited gathering of international media persons waited for them.

Rajnikanth followed in a separate chopper. A short flight later, they were skimming over the skyscraper skyline of the Emirate city and landing at the Burj Park were the actors were greeted with a guard of honour and presented bouquets of flowers.

According to sources, a giant stage with LED screens is being used for the biggest music launch of recent times. There will be tens of thousands of people watching it live at the venue while another 1.5 lakh will watch it at Dubai malls in the vicinity. An A. R. Rahman live performance will be the highlight of the music launch tomorrow in which the music maestro will entertain with a 20-minute set of his songs from 2.0 along with a 125-member symphony orchestra. United Arab Emirates Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has been sent an invitation to honour the music launch as the chief guest. Kamal Hassan is likely to grace the event. The budget of this star-studded audio launch is believed to be not less than Rs 15 crore with almost Rs 2 crore being spent to set up giant LED screens at some of the famous shopping malls in Dubai.
