Siddharth Anand’s ambitious untitled project for Yash Raj Films starring Bollywood’s super dancers Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff has hit a roadblock even before it started. And it’s all got to do with YRF’s choice of a leading lady for this film that was announced last month on legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra’s 85^th birth anniversary. YRF wants Vaani Kapoor who Aditya Chopra cast last year in Befikre opposite Ranveer Singh. And Vaani, as the only heroine in this film, is supposed to romance Hrithik.

But this has reportedly not gone down well with Hrithik. The actor, perhaps unfairly, associates Vaani with her last film Befikre which was a box-office disaster. Vaani has not had a spectacular career. She made her debut in Maneesh Sharma’s Shuddh Desi Romance in 2013 opposite Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra. For which Vaani was critically acclaimed. Then three years later she did YRF’s Befikre for which she was criticised. But while Aditya has put Befikre behind him, and is keen on casting Vaani again, Hrithik is wary about working with her.

The actor is known to be superstitious. And Hrithik was keen on repeating his Bang Bang co-star Katrina Kaif in the YRF film. He is said to have suggested Katrina to Aditya who dismissed the actress and went ahead and announced Vaani as his heroine. While all this was going on, Siddharth reportedly approached Shraddha Kapoor for the role and the actress also gave a looks test for the role. But Aditya, who has the final say in the casting and is Vaani’s mentor, was adamant that the actress be given the role and another chance to find her feet in Bollywood. And that’s how it is, much to Hrithik’s displeasure. Shooting of the untitled film will begin in April next year. YRF plans a January 2019 release.
