What did Deepika Padukone do after releasing the 3D version of Padmavati’s trailer last evening at PVR Icon in Andheri west? Proud sources from the sets of the film reveal that its lead actress returned to Film City where director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was waiting for her to shoot her last few scenes, and then Deepika ordered a sumptuous meal for the entire unit.

The media, which attended the 3D trailer launch in number, was only witness to the actress driving away in a stunning black bodycon kurta. Nobody had any idea where Deepika was heading. Now it is coming out that she was in a tearing hurry to get back to Film City where Bhansali was eagerly waiting for her to get back into Rani Padmini avatar. And Deepika herself was keen to get there because she had planned this elaborate meal for Team Padmavati.

So what was the menu she ordered? Deepika, it seems, stuck to her South Indian roots. Having been brought up in the old Bangalore, the actress is accustomed to the fine Mysore savouries available in that city. And so she called for three types of Idlis, Dosas, and Pakodas along Sāmbhar, Chutney and a lot of other food from a famous restaurant specializing in this cuisine.

Sources say that Bhansali tucked into the food heartily himself and was heard over everyone else praising the meal Deepika had organized. The actress is a notorious foodie and is known to eat without reservation, especially sweets and desserts. She does not watch what she is eating. She is also fond of eating at good restaurants and likes her South Indian Rassam-Rice. After Deepika completed her shooting for Padmavati yesterday, she returned to Film City for her last scene today. The unit bid a tearful farewell to their “Ranisaa” with a cake which the actress cut on the sets.
