Reports of Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi doing Jolly LLB 3 are untrue!

Reports of Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi appearing together in the third episode of Subhash Kapoor’s Jolly LLB franchise are not true at all. The trade magazine Box Office reported first that Subhash had already locked Jolly LLB 3 and this time the film would feature both Jollys – Jagdish Tyagi (Arshad) of the first film and Jagdishwar Mishra (Akshay) of the sequel. They reportedly would face off in court and then take on the baddies together. The story was speedily reported online and in Bollywood newspapers next. But Peeping Moon.com has learned that there is no truth at all in the story.

Controversy over the franchise came up when Akshay replaced Arshad as the underdog lawyer in the Jolly LLB sequel. Arshad, who was supposed to play the role again in Jolly LLB 2, had reportedly expressed shock and displeasure at this unexpected casting. But he went on to sportingly say, “I was supposed to do it, but Fox Star Studios needed a bigger star, so they chose Akshay. He is a damn good actor. If you have a bigger star, then even if the film is not that good, you still manage to cover the money.” It is said that Akshay even called up Arshad to make the disgruntled former ‘Jolly’ feel good.

The rumours about both actors featuring in Jolly LLB 3 began when Arshad, riding the success of Golmaal Again, gave interviews in which he said, “I will be working in a lot of sequels. I will work in sequels to Golmaal, Dhamaal, Ishqiya, Jolly LLB and Munna Bhai.” This exited fans of both actors and the franchise. It also hinted to the Bollywood grapevine that Arshad was already signed for the third part of the courtroom comedy drama. But was Akshay also in? That’s when Subhash stated, “It’s too early to talk about it. I haven’t even thought about the script yet, but yes, I will make Jolly LLB 3.”
