Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior director Om Raut is next making the big scale cinematic adaptation of the epic Ramayana, titled Adipurush. The filmmaker has completed the scripting and is currently locking the cast for the big-budget multilingual that's scheduled to hit floors in January 2021. While Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan have already been announced for the roles of Ram and Lankesh respectively, they recently finalized Kriti Sanon to play Sita. And now Peepingmoon.com has learned that the makers have found their Laxman as well!
Sources aware of the development have informed us that Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 actor Sunny Singh has been roped in to play the mythological character of Laxman in the Bhushan Kumar-backed 3D magnum opus. Singh who was last seen in Navjot Gulati's Jai Mummy Di earlier this year has signed the film and will soon start his prep for the character. The actor is enthralled to have bagged such a massive movie and is excited to share screen space with the superstar Prabhas as his aide and younger brother.

In the Puranas, Laxman is described as an incarnation of Sheshanaga, the multiple-headed nga upon whom rests the god Vishnu, whose avatar Ram is considered. He served Ram and Sita reverently during their 14-years long exile and played a major role in the war with Raavan. Sunny Singh is believed to have already started the physical and language training and will soon begin the real character training to breathe life into the man with unwavering loyalty, love, and commitment to his elder brother through times of joy and adversity alike.
The preparations for Adipurush are currently in full swing, with multiple storyboards, character designing, and asset creations happening regularly. Om Raut is closely working on every aspect of the development and plans to kickstart the production around mid-January. Produced by Bhushan Kumar in association with Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles Productions, Adipurush is scheduled to hit cinemas worldwide on Independence Day weekend in 2022.
