Bollywood surprised at low-key family celebration only for Taimur’s birthday

After Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli (“Virushka!”) got married in Tuscany on December 11, the next big thing on Bollywood’s social diary is the first birthday party of Taimur Ali Khan. The firstborn of Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan turns one on Wednesday, December 20. And as many people are looking forward to the party that’s supposed to be taking place in Pataudi for the little fellow as are those counting the days to the Virushka reception at the Taj Diplomatic Enclave in New Delhi. Both celebrations have one thing in common: a hand-picked guest list that does not include too many people.

PeepingMoon.com is surprised to learn that the Pataudi party is not open to the many friends his parents have in Bollywood. Kareena and Saif have not called anyone for their son’s party, a source said. It’s just going to be a family affair.

Soha Ali Khan and husband Kunal Kemmu with their baby daughter Inaaya Naumi are expected to be there as they are part of the family. As will be Karisma Kapoor with her children Samiera and Kiaan and beau Sandeep Toshniwal, Kareena’s parents Babita and Randhir Kapoor, Saif’s mother Sharmila Tagore, but nobody else. Not Kareena’s bestie Amrita Arora Ladak and her sister Malaika Arora (Khan). Nor Karan Johar and Manish Malhotra.

The guest list for the Pataudi party is surprising. Taimur has been part of the film social whirl from early on in his first year and is arguably the most photographed baby in the country. Expectations were running high as his birthday approached. His party was expected to be the maddest, merriest day of the closing year. But when his parents announced they were going to celebrate the occasion in the Pataudi Palace in Haryana, and not Mumbai, Bollywood got the hint. And now comes the news that nobody’s invited! Sources say the celebration has been toned down because the Kapoor family is in mourning for Shashi Kapoor who passed away on December 4. The rumour that a big party was happening in Pataudi over the Christmas weekend to which a number of Bollywood celebs were going is also not true. The family is coming back to Mumbai for Christmas.
