In July 2019, Bhushan Kumar of T-Series announced a slice-of-life comedy film Dahi Cheeni to launch his younger sister Khushali Kumar to the showbiz. She was supposed to play a lawyer while R Madhvan was paired opposite her. Debutant filmmaker Ashween Neal Mani was directing this film based on a true event that throws light on the problems faced by different societies all over the world. Cut to one and half years later, Peepingmoon.com has learned that Khushali Kumar's debut vehicle has been put on the back burner.
According to the sources close to the development, T-Series has put Dahi Cheeni on hold and is starting a different film to launch Gulshan Kumar's fashion designer daughter. "Dahi Cheeni was stopped after the film's final script didn't materialize as envisioned. Bhushan Kumar wants the best for his sister's debut and hence scrapped Dahi Cheeni after he found it going to a different route altogether. He has now planned a different film with the same cast but with a different direction team," the source said.
The new film in question is a suspense thriller, titled Dhoka. R Madhavan and Khushali Kumar will be romantically paired opposite each other while Aparshakti Khurrana will also play a pivotal role. Bhushan has this time given the directorial duty to Kookie Gulati who's currently awaiting the release of his Abhishek Bachchan scam drama, The Big Bull. The film will go on floors in the first week of January 2021 in Mumbai.
Khushali Kumar has apparently already started prepping for her first film and is leaving no stone unturned to impress the audiences with her performance. She will be seen playing a strong character with shades of grey. Meanwhile, R Madhavan is currently filming for his Netflix series, Decoupled, directed by Kaamyaab: Har Kisse Ke Hisse fame Hardik Mehta.
