Sonam Kapoor’s grand and much-anticipated wedding to businessman Anand Ahuja finally kicks off not on Monday and Tuesday (May 7 and 8) as has been widely reported, but this Sunday – May 6. However, this will not be an open function for all those also invited to the Mehendi, Marriage ceremony and Reception on the following days.
PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that what’s happening on Sunday is a private dinner at Anil Kapoor’s bungalow on North South Road No. 7 in Mumbai’s JVPD Scheme. At this dinner which is for the immediate families of the bride and groom, Sonam will be the only one who will apply mehendi. Everybody else will do so on Monday at the Mehendi being held at Sonam’s BKC residence in Sunteck, Signature Island. It is at 4 pm and the dress code for the Mehendi is Indian Festive Wear with Shades of White.
The actual Wedding ceremony will be held between 11 and 12.30 pm on Tuesday at Sonam’s aunt Kavita Singh’s bungalow Rockdale at Bandstand in Bandra. It is going to be the Anand Karaj – the Sikh marriage ritual meaning “Blissful Union” that was introduced by Guru Amar Das. The dress code for the Wedding is strictly Indian Traditional. The Anand Karaj will be followed by lunch.

And finally, the Sangeet and Reception which is being called a ‘Party” in the invites going out for the Sonam-Anand wedding. It is being held at The Leela from 8 pm onwards that evening and the dress code for this party is Indian or Western Formal. This is going to be the big Bollywood wedding that everybody is talking about with music and dance to celebrate the occasion.
PeepingMoon.com sources reveal that Papa Anil Kapoor will proudly take the lead and also the floor by dancing to the song Gallan Goodiyan from his 2015 hit film Dil Dhadakne Do by Zoya Akhtar. Sonam’s friends will be dancing for her recent favourite song – Swag Se Swagat from Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai.

And then there’s the popular song Masakali from Sonam’s 2009 musical drama Delhi-6 with Abhishek Bachchan that’s sung by Mohit Chauhan. Will the newly-wed Mrs. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja dance to Masakali? Keep guessing!
