Sanjay Dutt and Sooraj Pancholi were supposed to play father and son in the Hindi remake of the 2010 Telugu blockbuster, Prasthanam. The pre-production of the movie had already begun under the banner of Sanjay's home production, Sanjay Dutt Productions but now we have learnt that a major change has been made in casting.
Apparently, Sooraj Pancholi has opted out of the movie. "Sanju's company wanted Sooraj's date June onwards but they were not able to specify for how long and from when. This had kept Sooraj lurking in dark for too long and he was not able to commit his dates to his other projects. He waited for far too long to get a clarity from his office. Since it was hampering his other film he had to say no to Sanju's film. However it was decided mutually after talking to Sanjay who understood Sooraj's dilemma," a source told us adding that it was also due to Sanjay's busyness to half a dozen of the films he has signed recently that there was no clarity on when will he get the time for his own Production movie.
There was also an industry grapevine that Sanjay Dutt didn't have money for his home production and thus it was put on hold. However, let us assure you that the film hasn't been delayed and is definitely happening as planned. In fact, the makers have already locked another young actor to play Sanjay’s son in the film.
We have exclusively learnt that Ali Fazal has now been roped in to play Sooraj's role. Dev Katta who helmed the original will be directing the remake as well. Issaq and Mr.X actress Amyra Dastur is playing the leading lady opposite Fazal.
Dev Katta has been summoned to begin work and the shooting will begin next month. "They are doing Muhurat on 1st June which is his mother Nargis Dutt's 89th birth anniversary. And a week later they will shift to UP for a start-to-finish schedule," the source told us.
