EXCLUSIVE: Mouni Roy's character in RAW has many shades to it

Mouni Roy called. Bubbly as always, but also breathless now. The gorgeous and hugely popular TV actress is in the news. For her big Bollywood debut in Excel Entertainment’s Gold opposite Akshay Kumar. Its poster released today. And also for her inclusion in Ajay Kapoor’s RAW opposite Bollywood’s hot flavor of the season – the Parmanu superhero John Abraham. That news is also just out. Naturally, Mouni is ecstatic. She has not yet got over the fact that she’s doing Dharma Productions’ Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan. And now, before her debut film is released, she’s got another big ticket Bollywood film in hand. Excitedly, the actress spoke to PeepingMoon.com:

Congratulations! You have been confirmed for RAW (Romeo Akbar Walter) opposite John Abraham. What’s your character about? You said the team just felt after the audition that you were suited for the role because you have an “old word vibe”…

RAW is a great script. And mine is a very challenging role. My character has a lot of shades to it. It’s a multi-layered role. Yes, after the narrations the team felt that I suited the part. I’m glad that I could fit the bill and hope that I will do justice to the character. Director Robbie Grewal said that my histrionics got me the role! I’m waiting to work with John Sir. I have heard such wonderful things about him.

And the Gold poster released today. Excited?

I feel elated! And I believe Gold is going to be something very special. Akshay Sir is such a wonderful and sincere person to work with. He is also a wonderful teacher. It’s gratifying to work with him on this film. I am numb right now!

When’s your Gold look going to be out?

A. You’ll see that in Gold’s trailer. It’s coming out with Sanju on June 29. Though I haven’t yet seen the edit of the film, I know the trailer is going to be great.

Your fans are missing you on TV. Any message you have for them?

Thank you for always loving and supporting me. This means a lot to me. I want to tell you all that the reason you don’t see me on TV right now is because I have been working very hard (in Bollywood) but I promise you will see me on TV soon and also a web series and films. Just keep pouring your love and support…
