Shahid Kapoor and Batti Gul Meter Chalu director’s next collaboration is based on a real story

There’s more juicy khabbar on the film that Shahid Kapoor is reportedly going to be making with his Batti Gul Meter Chalu director Shree Narayan Singh soon. It is believed to be a thriller set in the wilds of Uttar Pradesh and inspired from a real-life story based on a social worker by the name of Ajeet Singh.

What’s inspiring about Ajeet Singh? He runs an NGO called Guria in UP that is dedicated to fighting child prostitution, second generation prostitution and sex trafficking in North India. Ajeet established his NGO in 1993 and since then has been working towards rescuing such victims and fighting the deadly criminal world of organized prostitution.

The man and his mission apparently impressed Shree Narayan Singh sufficiently for the director to come up with a script that excited Shahid to no end. The actor was looking for a meaty role to play after the Mewar ruler Ratan Singh of Padmaavat and signed on Batti Gul Meter Chalu because it was a social film like the director’s earlier one, the Akshay Kumar box office hit Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.

When Shree Narayan Singh and Shahid Kapoor recently announced their second collaboration, nothing was known about the film. But PeepingMoon.com has reliably learned that it is the story of the social worker and his NGO. Ajeet has reportedly rescued more than 1,000 girls from sex traffickers with a team of 36. He began the organization Guria at the age of 17 when he saw a nautch girl dancing at a wedding. After her performance, Ajeet offered to take care of her and her three children in order to give them a better life.

Shahid will start work on this project after finishing Reddy Vanga’s Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy and Raja Krishna Menon’s sports film that is based on the life of a boxer. Student of The Year 2 actress Tara Sutaria has reportedly bagged the female lead role in the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy opposite Shahid. But Shree Narayan Singh has yet to consider an actress opposite the actor’s character as Ajeet Singh. The director has said it is a subject nobody has attempted and he is planning it in great detail. It will go on the floors next year.
