In New York, fans of American singer Nick Jonas and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra are freaking out on the breaking news of their reported engagement after a whirlwind two months of dating. But Indian fans of both are cautioned to wait a while. The engagement has not yet happened.
People magazine, which quoted unnamed sources close to the pair as saying that Jonas, 25, had proposed to Priyanka on her 36th birthday in London, has apparently got it wrong. The buzz was made all the more believable because Jonas had shut down a Tiffany store in New York to chose an engagement ring for his Bollywood girlfriend. The story made romantic copy. But is not accurate.

However, a Bollywood source close to Priyanka has told PeepingMoon.com that the engagement is imminent. It will happen. And that Priyanka, who is 11 years older than Jonas, is apparently serious about the relationship and wants to take it ahead. All that is left is for the couple to announce a date.
It is believed that this might happen in September when Priyanka is likely to bring Jonas down to Mumbai once again. The actress has been religiously visiting the Andhericha Raja Ganpati on Veera Desai Road every year. And there is a sneaky feeling that Jonas will accompany her this time. Ganeshotsav falls in September. It is as auspicious a time to announce their engagement as any.
Rumours about the Priyanka-Jonas engagement spread like wildfire after Bharat director Ali Abbas Zafar mischievously tweeted that the reason the actress had walked out of his film was special and she had informed them in the “Nick of time”. People put two and two together going on his pun and assumed the actress was getting engaged to the singer and had opted out of her “Bollywood homecoming” film for this reason. But that wasn’t true. However, what is true is that Priyanka and Jonas will get engaged. And very soon.
