Sprite has got a new brand ambassador. And, in keeping with Indian advertising trends which see Bollywood actors playing the faces for leading cola brands, the new Sprite commercial will feature Dhadak male lead Ishaan Khatter. The actor, all of 22, is riding an exciting high with Dhadak doing extremely well at the box office. And he is bound to bring the fizz back to Sprite in the ad campaign being centered on him.
Earlier Sprite models include Shah Rukh Khan and the Indian cricket team led by the Prince of Kolkata, Sourav Ganguly, with the Bollywood Badshah dishing out team strategy for success. Another ad features Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza playing a blistering game of tennis and then coming off the court to a chilled bottle of Sprite.
There was TV and Bollywood star Pulkit Samrat too in a Sprite ad and, before that, Swara Bhaskar played a violin teacher in a cute Sprite ad. Very recently, Ishaan’s stepdad, Pankaj Kapoor, played a roguish character in a Sprite commercial that did the rounds during the IPL 2018.

The colorless, caffeine-free, lemon-and lime-flavored soft drink of The Coca-Cola Company was first developed in West Germany in 1959 as Fanta Klare Zitrone (“Clear Lemon Fanta”) and was introduced in the US under the current brand name Sprite in 1961 as a competitor to 7 Up. Bottles of Sprite are usually transparent green in color, with a green and yellow label, whereas cans are colored silver, green, and blue, and aluminum bottles have a solid lime green color.
Ishaan, who made his debut with Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi’s 2017 film Beyond the Clouds for which he won the Best Actor award at the 5th International Bosphorous Film Festival, is being looked at as Bollywood’s next big star as is his Dhadak actress Janhvi Kapoor.
Coco-Cola launched Sprite in 1999 with the tagline ‘Sprite bhujhaye only pyaas, baaki all bakwaas’. This year, it launched a campaign ‘Refreshment full Garmi Gul’ with ad from this campaign featuring Pankaj.
