He may be Bollywood's newbie but he knows the B-town drill pretty well. Sham Kaushal's younger son and Vicky Kaushal's younger brother, Sunny Kaushal, has made his way to Bollywood and will be seen in Akshay Kumar starrer Gold this independence day.
Moving away from the shadow of his brother, Sunny is looking forward to building his own identity in tinsel town. After a forgettable debut in Sunshine Music Tours and Travel, the 28-year-old actor is all set to play a talented hockey player, Himmat Singh, in his upcoming film.

While promoting the film, the actor recently sat down for an exclusive chat with PeepingMoon.com where he spoke about Gold, his brother Vicky, his future plans and all about his 'Gold moment'.
Excerpts from an interview with the star:
Q. From web series to Gold, how has the journey been?
A. It’s been great. I haven’t calculated the journey so much. I am very grateful and happy about this film and everything else.
Q. A lot of actors want to make their debut with a lead role but you chose an unconventional debut which wasn’t a lead role. What’s your take on this?
A. I have been auditioning for a very long time now. It's almost been 5 - 6 years. As long as you’re true to your character, it doesn’t matter how big or small the role is. So, I don't care if it's the lead role or not, the role should be an impactful one.
Q. We’ve seen your brother denying nepotism all the time and today he’s one of the most sorted actors in Bollywood... are you following his steps? Do you take any piece of advice from him?
A. No, actually we have a relationship where we don’t ask each other for advice. But, he has always been that one person I’ve looked up to. He’s just an year and four months older to me but respect wise, he’s much older. This is our profession and work will not change according to our relationship.
Q. Tell us something about your role - Himmat Singh.
A. Himmat is very different from me as a person. He’s very impulsive and doesn’t understand politics. He says whatever he feels and because of that, he creates a lot of trouble for himself. It was very difficult for me to be Himmat for the main reason that he’s a hockey player and I am not an athlete.
Q. What was it like to work with Akshay and Reema?
A. It’s just the beginning, so any kind of experience is most welcome. It was great working with Akshay sir as he gave so much love and Reema is such a sweetheart. She gave me so much space and she was so understanding always.
Q. What’s your Gold moment?
A. It hasn’t happened yet. I am still waiting for it but of course, every good moment is a Gold moment and my latest Gold moment is obviously bagging Gold. It’s such a big validation for an actor to get such a film after so much hard work.
Q. Your father, Shaam Ji has been in the industry for a long time now, do you take advice from him?
A. It’s not the same with your parents because they will give you advice all the time and it’s always welcome. Yes, I go to him for pieces of advice every day and his advice is most welcome.
Q. We’ve heard that Akshay has been giving rave reviews about your performance. How do you feel about it?
A. That’s so sweet. I actually call him Akshay paaji and I call Vicky also paaji. It’s a very Punjabi thing. It’s been very easy with him; I don’t even remember calling him Akshay sir. He kept us with a lot of affection and we got very comfortable with him. He has been very supportive.
Q. How was it working with Mouni?
A. Working with Mouni was chilled. We did not have a lot of scenes together, we actually shot for only three days together but still Mouni and I bonded pretty well. She’s quite talkative and I know she’s going to come to me as soon as she reads it.
Q. What after Gold?
A. I am taking one step at a time. Right now, I am auditioning and working hard. I am awaiting whatever comes my way.
