Mahabharat is definitely on track, PeepingMoon.com sources say. Aamir Khan has begun working on the pre-production of the magnum opus that is estimated to be made at the cost of Rs. 100 crores and will be as large as Lord of The Rings or Game of Thrones in production value. Further news is that this is a going to be Chinese co-production and a seven year plan that will keep the actor busy for the next five years. This is believed to have happened after Aamir’s films Dangal and Secret Superstar became super hits in China.

The actor who was spotted with a condensed version of Mahabharata by Vyasa at the airport is definitely going ahead with the project. If sources are to be believed, it will be a three part series and will be shot in that manner keeping Aamir totally occupied for at least 5 to 6 years.

There were reports that Aamir had dropped the plan to make Mahabharat after certain sections of social media did not like the idea of his involvement in the project because he is a Muslim. However, what really concerned him was the trouble Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat ran into. Aamir was reportedly seriously beginning to think that doing films on history or mythology had become very tricky in the country.

It is also learned that Aamir is juggling between playing Karna, the Kaurava warrior, and Lord Krishna in Mahabharat but sources say in all probability he would play Karna in the magnum opus. Aamir himself had said, “My favourite character is Karna but I don’t know if I’ll be able to play him because of my physique. I may just have to play (Lord) Krishna.”

Meanwhile two other Mahabharats are being made in the South. The Kannada version is titled Muniratna Kurukshetra. While Malayalam actor Mohanlal too announced he is making a Mahabharat.
