Bobby Deol is having a second go at his career in Bollywood. Thanks to good friend Salman Khan who gave Bobby a much-needed push and an opportunity to star in Race 3, the youngest Deol man is reaping rich rewards now. Race 3 might have been panned by critics and audience alike but the film still managed to rake in the moolah and gave Bobby a second lease of life after pulling him from the abysmal depths he had sunk to. In an exclusive chat with PeepingMoon.com, Bobby spoke about his son Aryaman Deol and whether he will follow the family and take a plunge into acting.
Unlike many celebrity parents who like to flaunt their kids to paparazzi to keep up their celebrity clout and then try to make mincemeat out of the photographers, Bobby, as well as Sunny Deol, has always managed to keep their personal lives and their kids away from the limelight. Talking about his children Bobby said, “I have always tried to keep my family away from the public glare. Plus I do not want my kids to become celebrities before they achieve anything in life. Moreover, I haven’t been brought up that way.”
Bollywood is rampant with offspring-following-parents’ footsteps and nepotism is one of the biggest ongoing debates that has no end. However, Bobby, unlike many stars, does not want to offer his children anything on a platter. He told us, “When I started working, I didn’t reap in any advantages of being superstar Dharmendra’s son. Luckily my son also feels the same and the alleged “star kid” concept. But now I have started going out more often, then there are more media happening to me at the moment. But I never thought about it that paparazzi will spot Aryaman out of nowhere and then all the hype will be created around him!”
However, Bobby, like Shah Rukh Khan insists that his children need to finish their education before they embark on any starry dreams. He said, “My son needs to finish his education first. He needs to understand how every profession operates and get that knowledge. Both my sons are studying at the moment, but yes I do want to see them on the silver screen. That does not mean you need to put your education at stake. Study first, and then take the best decision for yourself. But at the end of the day, they will definitely come into films," he exclaimed laughingly.
When Bobby was asked about the undue pressure a star kid has to undergo these days and the fact that getting into Bollywood is no longer easy even for a celeb kid, Bobby said, “Yes, because now the deal comes in a package. You have to be accha from the word GO. And then it’s your hard work, your luck which takes you places. There are so many talented people around but their luck does not favour them. And then there are so many people who are not even good at what they do, but luck is in their favour. Luck and hard work go hand in hand.”
Bobby’s third film in the Yamla Pagla Deewana franchise Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se has released. Besides Bobby, the film also stars his father Dharmendra and elder brother Sunny Deol as well as Kriti Kharbanda.
