It can’t get more tragic than this. Not just Rishi Kapoor, but also wife Neetu and son Ranbir are going to miss the cremation of Kapoor Khandaan matriarch Krishna Raj Kapoor that will shortly happen this evening at the Chembur crematorium near the famous R. K. Studios.
Krishna Aunty, as everybody knew her, passed away this morning of a cardiac arrest and old age, as her elder son Randhir Kapoor brokenly told the media. She was 87, and perhaps weighed down by the fact that her second son, Rishi, had to leave for the US to get a worrisome health issue of his own attended.

Now PeepingMoon.com has learned that accompanying Rishi to New York were his wife Neetu and son Ranbir. And all three are going to be missing from Krishna Aunty’s cremation in a short while from now. Bollywood is a family. And the whole industry will be there to pay their last respects to the indomitable widow of the late and great showman Raj Kapoor. But not Rishi, Neetu and Ranbir. This more than anything is heartbreaking news.

Before leaving on Saturday, Rishi had tweeted mysteriously, “Hello all! I am taking a short leave of absence from work to go to America for some medical treatment. I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. It’s been 45 years plus of wear and tear at the movies. With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon!”
