PeepingMoon Exclusive: Casting directors started taking me a bit more seriously after Made In Heaven: 'Chhorii' actor Yaaneea Bharadwaj

Yaaneea Bharadwaj, who made a buzz with her happy go lucky Punjabi girl role in Made In Heaven, is all set for her next. The actress will be soon seen in Vishal Furia's Chhorii alongside Nushrratt Bharucchaa. Having wrapped the shoot recently, Yaaneea heaps praise on director Vishal, her co-star Nushrratt and talks about her experience shooting for the film.

Ask her about getting more projects after Made In Heaven and the actress gets candid about being taken more seriously by casting directors. In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, Yaaneea talks about Chhorii, her experience in the web space and training for Martial Arts during the lockdown.

Excerpts from the interview:

Did Made In Heaven help you get Chhorii?

I signed Chhorii after that. I recorded my audition from home during the lockdown and sent it. In fact, Vishal (Furia), my director, he hasn’t even seen Made In Heaven. When I asked if he wanted me to send him the show reel, he told me no need as my character in Chhori is completely different. It’s not Punjabi or similar to what I did in Made In Heaven.

Do you feel work opportunities came in your way after Made In Heaven?

To be honest, audition calls increased a lot after Made In Heaven. But I’m not someone who will get lucky, I have to work my way out. Casting directors started taking me a bit more seriously. Initially, they used to not even call me but after that they started calling for auditions.

How was the shoot of Chhorii?

It was a great shoot. The people were very nice on set, everyone was very caring. Initially, when I had come to Mumbai, I was scared after listening to people saying but what I’ve experienced is that people are very professional. Nushrratt is also a very nice person and she’s very sweet.

How was it working with Vishal Furia?

He’s an actor’s director. Fortunately, even Made In Heaven director Prashant Sir was an actor’s director. He will always understand your situation and move that way. I like method acting so he understood my process. He used to tell me to never get out of my mood and do the scenes my way.

Was your approach towards acting different for Chhorii than what is was for Made In Heaven?

I’ve noticed that the platform makes no difference. The people you work with make all the difference. Both Prashant Sir and Vishal Sir are actor’s director. It is very important to work with a good time.

When can we expect the release of Chhorii?

We have wrapped the shoot but no idea about the release of the film. It will release this year is all that I know.

You trained for Martial arts during the lockdown. How was it?

During the lockdown, I learned sword fight. I went to my hometown and I learnt it with a real sword of my great grandfather. I learned it via YouTube because there was nobody to teach. I am very good with weapons. It is my dream to play the role of a warrior princess.
