The Rising Stars of Bollywood: Taapsee-Deepika paved a path to 'new Bollywood'; want to change the way TV actors are perceived - Mrunal Thakur

Mrunal Thakur started off her acting career at a young age. She featured in a television show titled Mujhse Kuchh Kehti...Yeh Khamoshiyaan. Since then, there is no looking back. After impressing all with her acting chops in Ekta Kapoor's Kumkum Bhagya, Mrunal made a successful entry into Bollywood with Love Sonia. The film was received well by the critics and audience. Post venturing into Bollywood, Mrunal clearly said no to stereotypes and is busy making an effort to change the way people perceive actresses in films. Just like Taapsee Pannu, Deepika Padukone and a few more, Mrunal, with her upcoming releases, will surely up the game for good.

In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, Mrunal spoke about being the next game-changer. Talking about taking the path Taapsee and Deepika chose, she said, "I absolutely adore them and the kind they are doing. Nothing is stopping them at all. A big thanks to them for changing the way Bollywood was perceived earlier. My releases in 2021 will make a difference. I'm doing films so that they change the look people look at actresses. It isn’t necessary that we have long hair. When you'll go on sets and the director will ask, "What is your plus point? Good look? Remove that. Long hair? Cut it short. Glamourous look? Okay, let me put you in the worst clothes ever. Now act." That’s where the challenge begins. All these materialistic things should not matter to be a Bollywood actress."

Having started her career with a television show, Mrunal now wants to change the way people look at small-screen actors and actresses. "I want to change the way people look at TV actors and actresses. An actor is an actor. It's not necessary that he/she can only be in films, theatres or TV. I want people to stop thinking in that way. I want to make sure I open all the doors for all the TV actors who came to Mumbai to follow their dreams and be on the big screen. There should be equality, be it the kind of role we get, the screen space or paycheques. My intention is to live in a society where everyone is treated equally," Mrunal added.
