It’s three days to her big Bollywood debut and they all have had something to say about Sara Ali Khan who comes to the screen in a major way with Kedarnath opposite Sushant Singh Rajput this Friday. All those already in Bollywood from the debutante’s family. From proud father Saif Ali Khan to anxious mother Amrita Singh. And excited aunt Soha Ali Khan to, well, glamorous step-mom-friend Kareena Kapoor Khan.
But there’s one person who kept her opinions private. And that person is Sara’s paternal grandmother, the matriarch of this Khandaan, Begum Sharmila Tagore who made her own Bollywood debut in 1964 with Shakti Samanta’s Kashmir Ki Kali opposite that rock star actor Shammi Kapoor. Now PeepingMoon.com has exclusive information to share.

Saif’s marriage to Amrita in 1991 was not blessed by his parents Mansur Ali Khan and Sharmila Tagore for several reasons not the least being the fact that Saif was 21 and Amrita 33. And when the couple, after they had their children Sara and Ibrahim, divorced bitterly in 2004, the Pataudis had more grounds to dislike Amrita.

That emotion continues today. So it comes as a big surprise to learn that Sharmila in a heartfelt and conciliatory gesture reached out to Amrita last Sunday with a small text message praising the single mother’s role in the upbringing of her granddaughter who was about to make her debut in films.
Sara shared the text message from “grandmother to mother” exclusively with PeepingMoon.com after she got to know about it from Amrita. Reading from her phone, Sara said, “Many congratulations on Sara’s debut. How well you have brought her up. Well done. She excels in every criteria. Love and duas, Amma.”

There you are! Sara also told us that (Dadi) Sharmila Tagore had been messaging her about her appearing on Koffee with Karan, about all the interviews she has been giving, and congratulating her on the trailer of Kedarnath. “I think she’s so excited. And so supportive. She and my mother are not in touch. So that (Sharmila’s message to Amrita) was really touching to me,” Sara said.
