Irrfan will return to play the rich Delhi businessman Raj Batra in Hindi Medium 2 but Pakistani actress Saba Qamar and child artiste Dishita Sehgal who played his wife and daughter respectively in the prequel will not be part of the cast this time. Radhika, a TV actress known for her role in the serial Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi, will play Irrfan’s teenage daughter Pia in the sequel that will go forward by a decade and will be a fresh take on the Indian education system with little reference to the first part. The film’s pre-production has already begun, sources say, and shooting will kick off in April in Mumbai.
Homi Adajania, who directed Cocktail and Finding Fanny, will helm the sequel replacing original director Saket Choudhary who is currently working on a social drama for Sajid Nadiadwala and couldn’t allot time to direct Hindi Medium 2. The sequel was supposed to roll in August 2018 but was put on the backburner after Irrfan went to London for his treatment. The actor is reportedly getting ready to return to Bollywood and PeepingMoon.com wishes him luck for his second stint at the movies.
