After the mega-success of Breathe: Into the Shadows, Abhishek Bachchan is all set to return to the digital platform with the film, titled The Big Bull. Directed by Kookie Gulati, the film is a dramatised account of all the scams that took place in the country in '80s-'90s. Ahead of The Big Bull's much-awaited premiere, Abhishek sat down for an interview with PeepingMoon. During the conversation, the actor reacted to The Big Bull's comparisons with Pratik Gandhi-led web series, Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story.
Abhishek said comparisons don't bother him. He shared that his priority is to give his best to a project and character. "Whether it is fair or not, it is immaterial. It is human nature. It is what it is. You don’t pay too much attention to it. Like I keep saying, I have to bother myself with the work I do. I’m very happy and proud of the film and I have given it my best. That’s all I can do. The rest of the conversation around what I do and my work is by and large dictated to by the media because they have to stream a conversation in a particular way. And then the conversation opens up. People will have their opinions and it is their God-given right. It’s fine. I’ve said multiple times that I have loved Scam 1992. It was fantastic. All the performances, writing, direction and every department are great. Are there going to be comparisons? Of course because of similar topics. Like I said, to compare is human nature. That’s fine but on both sides, people will just bother about doing their jobs to the best of their ability. That's how much I have to pay heed to the comparisons," Abhishek told.
Pratik, who played the role of Harshad Mehta in Scam 1992, had told PeepingMoon in the past that comparisons are unfair and both the actors have their own way of treating the character. Now, Abhishek has hailed Pratik's performance in the Hansal Mehta-directed web show.
He shared, "It was such effortless performance. It is so difficult when you are playing such a robust character. Scam 1992 is based on Mr. Harshad Mehta’s life from a book that Ms. Sucheta Dalal wrote. There is no room for interpretation from a performance perspective. He had to play the character as truthfully as possible. To do it so effortlessly is a fantastic achievement."
Apart from Abhishek, The Big Bull also Ileana D'Cruz, Nikita Dutta, Sohum Shah, Saurabh Shukla, Ram Kapoor and Supriya Pathak. It is backed by Ajay Devgn and Anand Pandit. The film is co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Vikrant Sharma. The film will release on April 8.
