Last year it was reported that Ajay Devgn and Aditya Chopra would be working together for the first time burying all the past hatchets. They were supposedly collaborating for a big-scale action extravaganza planned to get into production this year. It was one of the five high-profile projects Yash Raj Films had planned to mark its 50th-anniversary. However, there has been no update since then on this much-anticipated first-ever Ajay Devgn-YRF collaboration even though the other four YRF films have already gone on floors.
With no new development on the said project, one was wondering if the film has been put on the backburner. However, that's not the case, Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned. Contrary to the speculations, Ajay Devgn's YRF film is still not confirmed as he hasn't signed it officially yet. "Ajay Devgn was verbally offered this project last year and he showed his interest too. But that's all that has happened so far. Aditya Chopra has not put a formal offer on the table yet and the superstar is still waiting for the banner to initiate a conversation before he signs it. As of now, the talk is the only thing that has happened and there's no clarity on when this film will exactly roll," a source close to the development informed us.
We have also learned that Yash Raj Films has put all its in-talks projects on hold courtesy of the coronavirus pandemic and they would not be starting the production for any new project until the situation improves. Furthermore, the Ajay Devgn film needs to be mounted lavishly on outdoor locations which doesn't seem feasible at this moment. Devgn's packed calendar with films like MayDay, Maidaan, Thank God and Chanakya could also be a reason his YRF film doesn't have a shooting timeline set yet.
This yet-untitled action venture — to be directed by debutant Shiv Rawail who's the grandson of the legendary H.S. Rawail and son of Rahul Rawail — has been planned as a franchise film with Devgn playing the role of a quintessential villain opposite Chikky Panday's son Ahaan Pandey who makes his showbiz debut with this film. Based on the lines of YRF's popular Dhoom franchise, this film series is said to be a long-term launch plan for Ahan and is estimated to be made on a whopping budget of around 150 crores.
