PeepingMoon Exclusive: Had Irrfan been among us, in the next 30-35 years he would have written 'script of acting' - Jaideep Ahlawat

Jaideep Ahlawat is deeply affected, emotionally, after the untimely demise of Irrfan in 2020. The acclaimed Hollywood and Bollywood actor passed away on April 29 last year after battling with Neuroendocrine Tumour for 2 years. 1 year later, the void that Irrfan left behind can be felt. Today, as we are remembering the legendary actor on his 1st death anniversary, Jaideep spoke to PeepingMoon about the kind of impact Irrfan left on him. Jaideep also highlighted Irrfan's special quality that set him apart from others. That is not bothering much about success or failure.

Jaideep told PeepingMoon that the ease with which he pulled off different characters on screen wouldn't have been possible if he was bothered about not getting recognised for his work in the Hindi film industry. He further said Irrfan had the quality to breathe life into brief and sometimes insignificant characters too.

The Paatal Lok actor said, "Agar voh relaxed nahi hote toh unke kaam mein joh ease dikhta tha, voh nahi hota. Agar aap zindagi mein lagatar pareshaan hai ki mujhe itna recognition nahi mil raha hai ya utna due nahi mil raha hai jiska main haqdaar hai, agar aap lagatar uss cheez se deal kar rahe hai, lad rahe hai toh aap ke kaam ko impact karne wala hai. Mujhe aisa lagta hai unko bhi ek time tak laga hoga ki industry mujhe samajh nahi rahi hai. Par ek daur ke baad na, unko iss cheez ka zyada farak nahi padta hoga. Fir unko sirf kaam karne mein, kirdaar play karne mein maza aane laga. Unhone The Lunchbox, Billu, Hindi Medium, Karwaan, Qarib Qarib Single, Mumbai Meri Jaan jaisi filmon mein relaxed performances ki hai. Aise lagta tha ki yeh aadmi kabhi kisi cheez ko seriously nahi lega. Life in a... Metro mein itna chota sa kirdaar hai, Irrfan ne usko kitna jeevant kar diya. 4 line bhi nahi thi par unko screen pe dekhke laga hi nahi ki yeh out of space hai."

Jaideep, in the exclusive conversation, broke down remembering Irrfan and while talking about his equation with his son Babil I. Khan. Jaideep and Babil shared an emotional moment at the recently held Filmfare Awards 2021 where Irrfan was posthumously honoured with the Best Actor award and a Lifetime Achievement trophy.
