PeepingMoon Exclusive: Did Kartik Aaryan lose Red Chillies’ ‘Goodbye Freddy’ because he wanted director Ajay Bahl replaced?

It’s sad to say this but Kartik Aaryan’s on a roll. He lost a second film on the trot after Dharma Productions’ Dostana 2 last month. This time, too, the abrasive actor was removed from a big film by a leading production house – Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. The news is out, but only PeepingMoon.com can tell you exclusively what led to Aaryan being shown the door.

The film is Goodbye Freddy in which Kartik was being paired opposite Katrina Kaif. It seems over and above his regular tantrums of wanting the script changed, Kartik reportedly had issues with director Ajay Bahl (B.A.Pass) and wanted him to be replaced at any cost. The buzz is that Kartik was so arrogantly confident of his position with Red Chillies that he went behind the producer’s back to approach other filmmakers for this job.

Goodbye Freddy is a social comedy and was expected to go on the floors in June. But Red Chillies, which was not taking Kartik’s nonsense and stood its ground, is now tasked with finding a replacement hero for its film. Goodbye Freddy had not gone on the sets, so Red Chillies does not incur a loss of investment with Kartik’s sacking, as had Dharma Productions which shot for 20 days of Dostana 2 with the actor. Kartik is believed to have returned the signing amount to Red Chillies.

No matter his nonchalance, losing Dostana 2 and Goodbye Freddy will hurt Kartik’s career prospects big time. While Red Chillies and SRK have not made their feelings about Kartik’s interfering ways public, Karan Johar is believed to have been outraged by Kartik’s behaviour on the sets of Dostana 2 and reportedly said that Dharma Productions was banning the actor and would never work with him again. Tut-tut, that’s not the way to go, Kartik.
