PeepingMoon.com, on April 10, exclusively informed its readers that Irrfan's elder son Babil I. Khan will be making his acting debut opposite Tripti Dimri in Anushka Sharma's Netflix film, Qala. The first schedule of the film was wrapped in Kashmir, and the makers revealed the first look of the film shortly. While the storyline of Qala has been kept under tight wraps, PeepingMoon has exclusively learnt that it is a musical.
As per our sources, popular Bollywood singer Shahid Mallya, who has crooned chartbusters like Rabba Main Toh Mar Gaya Oye (Mausam), Iski Uski (2 States), Ikk Kudi (Udta Punjab) and Radha (Jab Harry Met Sejal) to name a few, will be Babil's voice throughout the film. Avid cinema watchers must be remembering the golden days of the Hindi entertainment industry when one singer became the voice of an actor throughout the film. Just like Kumar Sanu for Rahul Roy in Aashiqui (1990), Abhijeet Bhattacharjee for Shah Rukh Khan in Yes Boss (1997) and Mohit Chauhan for Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar (2011) to name a few.
Amit Trivedi has reportedly come on board as the music composer. Interestingly, Amit has given the background score for Anushka's Netflix film Bulbbul (2020) that starred Tripti. Anvitaa Dutt, who is directing Qala, made her directorial debut with Bulbbul. The music director, known for his electic work, has belted iconic albums like Dev D, Kedarnath, Manmarziyaan in the past.
Qala also stars Swastika Mukherjee and is directed by Anvitaa Dutt. Tripti is working with Anvitaa and Anushka's production house Clean Slate Filmz for the second time after Bulbbul (2020).
