According to sources popular TV actor Pearl V Puri, arrested under the POSCO Act and sections of the CrPC for the alleged rape of a minor girl, was desperate not to be sent to prison for his 14 days’ judicial custody as is the norm but to be kept in a police lockup with other accused.

Puri had to undergo a mandatory Covid test before going to prison. While it is not immediately known where he is lodged, the options before Puri are Taloja, Thane Central Prison and Arthur Road Jail. He reportedly kept urging the authorities till late at night to keep him in the Waliv Police Station lockup instead.

Before being packed off to judicial custody, Puri was allowed to meet two friends. Essentials like sanitizers, towel, mask and a packet of mosquito repellent coil were given to the actor. According to PeepingMoon sources, his blood pressure wasn’t normal and a doctor was called for a check-up. Puri allegedly raped the daughter of his female co-star of Brahmarakshas on the show’s sets in 2019.
