Peepingmoon.com exclusively informed the readers just yesterday that Taapsee Pannu has signed BA Pass and Section 375 director Ajay Bahl's next psychological thriller. We also revealed that Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota actor Gulshan Devaiah has been roped in to play one of the male leads and they will begin shooting for it from 20th July in Nainital. The makers have already written to the Uttarakhand government asking for shooting permission for a month-long start-to-finish schedule. Now, we have got in hands some further details about the film's storyline.
We've exclusively learned that Taapsee and Gulshan Devaiah starrer is the official Hindi remake of the 2010 Spanish horror thriller, Julia's Eyes, directed by Guillem Morales. Taapsee will be stepping into the shoes of Belen Rueda and play a visually impaired twin sister in this mystery drama while the details of Gulshan's character have been kept under wraps. The original which is currently playing on MUBI has been rewritten by Ajay Bahl and his writers keeping Indian audiences' sensibilities in mind. They have apparently made some major changes in the script to maintain the novelty factor among moviegoers. Producer Pranjal Khandhdiya (Mango Purple Media Network) who's backing Taapsee's upcoming sports drama Rashmi Rocket will be producing it in association with Zee Studios.
Taapsee will be seen playing the role of a woman who's suffering from degenerative eye disease in this yet-untitled thriller. Defined as a fascinating, broken-backed picture full of riveting twists and dubious psychology, the film tells the story of a woman who's slowly losing her sight whilst trying to investigate the mysterious death of her twin sister. This film will be Taapsee's second Spanish remake after her 2019 box office hit Badla which was adapted from Oriol Paulo's 2016 mystery-thriller, The Invisible Guest.
Interestingly, Julia's Eyes is already being remade in four Indian languages. Veteran cinematographer Kabir Lal is said to be directing all four films with different cast and crew. While its Bengali remake is titled Antardrishti and stars Rituparna Sengupta, Sean Banerjee and Indrajeet Chakroverthy in the lead, the Marathi remake (titled Adrushya) stars Manjri Fadnis, Pushkar Jog and Saurabh Gokhale. The film's Tamil version (Un Paarvailyil) features Gayathrie Shankar and Himanshu Soni while its Telugu version (Agochara) stars Esha Chawla and Sunil Varma.
